During my upbringing, my family frequently relocated within Daniel Island and the Charleston area. Each time, the burden of packing and moving fell on us, the children, as we assisted our mother in the arduous task. On two occasions, our parents decided to alleviate the stress by hiring professional movers, only to find that it made matters worse. These movers proved to be inefficient, sluggish, costly, and careless, causing damage to some of our mother’s cherished furniture. Consequently, our dislike for the moving process intensified due to the negative experiences with these hired movers.

Throughout our childhood, constant relocations defined our family’s experience, with each move being a laborious affair involving extensive packing and physical effort. Despite occasional attempts to simplify the process by engaging professional movers, these endeavors often backfired, leaving us frustrated and disillusioned. The inefficiency, tardiness, exorbitant costs, and mishandling of our belongings by the hired movers not only failed to ease our burden but also soured our perception of moving altogether.
