About:
Butte Sand & Gravel
Double bottoms, transfer trucks, and super dumps are three types of trucks used for material transportation in various construction settings. Double bottoms consist of two trailers that release materials efficiently into windrows for linear placement, with a capacity ranging from 23 to 26 tons. Transfer trucks, also equipped with two trailers, offer versatility in transporting asphalt, rock, sand, and gravel. They can operate as a 10-wheeler for smaller deliveries, accommodating loads of 23 to 25 tons. On the other hand, super dump trucks, smaller in size, are ideal for quick material movement within dense urban areas or on paving projects. These trucks, with a capacity of 17 to 20 tons, do not require trailers, making them efficient for on-site work.
When entering the Butte Sand and Gravel plant, visitors are required to check in at the office and adhere to safety protocols. Vehicles must maintain a speed limit of 10 mph while driving within the plant premises, with headlights required during nighttime operations. Drivers are prohibited from leaving their vehicles while inside the plant. Personal protective equipment, including hard hats and reflective high-visibility clothing, is mandatory for all individuals within the plant area. Communication within the facility is facilitated through CB radios installed in loaders, trucks, and the scale house. Additionally, for customers picking up materials, a check-in procedure is outlined, along with associated fees such as an environmental fee of $8.50, a minimum charge of $75.00 per load, and a 3% credit card fee for payment transactions.
