About:
Chapel Hill Moving Company
In 1975, Roland and Wendy Intrator made the decision to move from California to North Carolina, opting to purchase a used moving truck to manage their own cross-country relocation. Upon settling in Chapel Hill, Roland found himself frequently driving the truck around town, inadvertently sparking requests for assistance with local moves. Recognizing an unmet need in the community, the Intrators established Chapel Hill Moving Company, focusing on delivering personalized and professional moving services at competitive rates, establishing a reputation for reliability and quality in the small university town.
Fast forward to 2008, Ethan Smith, a close friend of the Intrator family and a longtime employee of the moving company, transitioned into the role of owner. Ethan’s roots with the business ran deep, having grown up nearby and spent summers working alongside the Intrators. After completing his education at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, Ethan continued to glean valuable experience from Roland and Wendy. Fueled by his entrepreneurial ambitions and supported by his wife, Patricia, Ethan eagerly seized the opportunity to take over Chapel Hill Moving Company when the Intrators retired, marking the continuation of a legacy built on dedication and community service.
