At Butte County CAA, our mission is to offer hope and assistance to those facing poverty, empowering them towards self-sustainability through addressing essential needs like energy efficiency, affordable food, and housing. The roots of our organization trace back to the establishment of local community action programs in response to federal antipoverty initiatives in 1964. By January 1967, the Butte County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. was formed to harness federal funding and address poverty-related challenges in the region. Over the years, our programs have expanded to include vital services such as student tutoring, childcare, senior nutrition, and job training. Through innovative strategies like residential weatherization and collaboration with various agencies, we have persisted in our mission to combat poverty and support vulnerable populations. Our dedication has been recognized through resolutions from local and state authorities, marking 50 years of impactful service to the community.
