Seward Motor Freight traces its roots to the early 1940s, initially established to transport goods between Omaha and Seward, Nebraska. Wayne and Joan Tanderup took ownership in 1969, incorporating the business with seven employees. Over the years, the company expanded steadily, obtaining long haul permits from the Interstate Commerce Commission in the 1970s and contract authority in 1987. Throughout the 1980s, Seward Motor Freight acquired several smaller carriers, broadening its operational reach and driver workforce.
Today, Seward Motor Freight, Inc. is led by a dedicated Board of Directors including President Joan Tanderup, Corporate Secretary-Treasurer Ron Niemoth, Vice President of Operations Joyce Helge, and Vice President of Safety Erich Helge. The company relocated to a new 6 1/2 acre office and fleet maintenance facility at I-80 and Highway 15 in 1985. Their vision is to contribute to the nation’s economy by providing reliable freight delivery services, with a mission centered on cultivating trusted client relationships and establishing a network of dependable transportation professionals.
