About:
Starving Students Movers
In 1973, two high school graduates, Darryl Marshak and Ethan Margalith, embarked on a quest for summer employment in Hollywood, California. Determined to earn money before college, they offered their services for various tasks like painting houses and running errands. When Darryl was offered $20 to participate in the short-lived trend of streaking, Ethan suggested they focus on moving instead. They pooled their resources to buy a 1944 Dodge Truck, and while one painted “Students – Mover for Hire” on its side, the other jokingly suggested labeling themselves as “Starving Students.” The name stuck, and thus, their moving company was born. Despite their humble beginnings, Darryl and Ethan were driven by innovation and a commitment to providing top-notch service to their customers.
Since its inception, Starving Students has grown into a successful enterprise, having facilitated the relocation of millions of people. Despite their business’s expansion, Darryl and Ethan have remained actively involved and have maintained their lifelong friendship. Their company’s success is attributed to their dedication to customer satisfaction and their ability to adapt and innovate in a constantly evolving industry.
