More than fifty years ago, Peter and Marjorie Edwards made a bold move, leaving behind their steady jobs to venture into the removals business. With two young sons to care for, this decision was not made lightly, but their determination fueled their resolve. Both were already familiar with the removals industry; Peter had prior experience working for his family’s business, W.J Edwards Removals, while Marjorie had managed their removals office. Back then, life was simpler in the industry, with just two options for removal sizes: a small one for £3 or a large one for £5.

Given that the Edwards name was already associated with another business, Peter and Marjorie decided to name their venture Stephens, in honor of their eldest son. This marked the beginning of their journey as entrepreneurs, laying the foundation for a business that would stand the test of time.
