In 2017, Collin Flynn, while struggling financially as a student at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, initiated Collin’s Movers, a one-man moving service, in the hopes of earning some additional income by assisting people in relocating their furniture at reasonable rates. Although he encountered a few stumbling blocks, such as attempting to learn how to drive a manual transmission moving truck through YouTube tutorials, Collin gradually expanded his clientele. As time passed, more of his college acquaintances expressed a desire to lend a hand with his moving assignments. This organic growth culminated in the official launch of “College Movers” in Cedar Rapids, featuring its inaugural team of university-affiliated movers. The enterprise’s success persisted and as graduates moved on, they carried the business model to various states across the United States, establishing branches from Iowa to the Carolinas.

Over time, Collin Flynn’s venture, initially conceived as Collin’s Movers, evolved into the thriving and widespread “College Movers.” Starting as a cash-strapped student endeavor, it witnessed remarkable growth. Collin’s circle of college friends eagerly joined forces with him, leading to the establishment of a formal entity. This expansion extended beyond Cedar Rapids, spanning across several states in the U.S. as they graduated and took the business with them. The evolution of College Movers from a solo operation to a multi-state enterprise underscored its resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges and demonstrated the potential for innovative entrepreneurship within the collegiate community.
